Would it be possible to paint the panels?

The good news is that, for a little extra, you can choose from a wide range of colors. We will have the capability of custom molding parts to meet your color requirements.

While it is possible to paint polyethylene it would not be my recommendation. If you choose to paint the panels, the best paint to use is an exterior acrylic house paint. This will allow the part to expand and contract without chipping or tearing the paint.

Surface prep is very important when painting polyethylene. Do proper research before attempting to paint polyethylene plastic.

I like the idea of paying extra to get the color one wants. It would be neat to have it match ones car's color. I guess it would also depend on how much 'extra' is.

Thank you for the reply.

I think that the stock color of the camper ought to be teal. Thoughts?

I respectfully disagree. Teal is a fashion colour that comes and goes. An eggshell or light, neutral beige is the base colour of choice for RVs for a reason. Then they are stylized with the addition of painted accents or decals post-production.

With a new entry into the market, especially with an... innovative departure from "status quo", one should minimize buyer resistance, not challenge it with cosmetic considerations that are not universally appealing.

Just my 'umble opinion, mate.

Here's my car.

With an "accessory" like the trailer, I've got to consider resale value, so I wouldn't get it specially coloured to match the car, which I expect to keep until it's ready for the recycler.

I think a teal colored camper would be an excellent color to fit in the palette of your electric yellow SmartCar. I don't know why you're already thinking of selling your Teal Camper, but that's another issue. I do think that the demographic of people who would be interested in the Teal Camper are not interested in it for its ordinariness. It is unusual in every way and is going to turn heads on the road whether its beige or bright green.
Its unusualness is an analogous unusualness that drew you to the SmartCar, so why try to make the Teal Camper generic? The modular, rounded look of the Teal camper makes it more like an iPod than a Winnebago, so why beige?

BTW, try finding a beige SmartCar Wink

Thanks for your comments, New Beetle. As a personal choice, I think teal would look...
!horrible! with my lemon-lime - called "Stream Green" (not electric yellow) smart car. See? It's all a matter of personal taste.

Fortunately (didn't I read above?), just like smart, the manufacturer is offering a custom-colour option, so you can have your teal. Wink

We would want ours entirely as white a possible and maybe even shiny if that were an option. This would be to make it as cool inside as possible. We would want to maximize the reflection of heat. This product is unique and pretty cool, but it won't just be interesting to the fashion set. People that really want a winter shelter might want it totally black to absorb maximum heat. These kinds of colours reduce the energy needed to heat and cool. That mean way more to me than a cuteness factor. I know how something absorbs or reflects heat isn't just based on simple color. Appearently there is white and then there is WHITE! I've read up a bit on black bodies and the highest efficiency for the least cost. I am not a physicist but I would love to know that this kind of theory was being considered to make me as comfortable as possible for the least energy.

Besides, if it was either teal or blue, wouldn't it look a bit like a souped-up port-a-pottie? Who makes those things? Maybe the Teal camper could be sold through Costco? Appearently, you can buy every from boats, to coffins, to toilet paper there. Something like that would help it reach a larger audience than just focusing on camper retail. The shelter option makes it an attractive option for a studio or work shed that travels.
