getting 5' wide to fit in pickup truck bed

I just found your site, and measured my 92 k1500 extended cab with short bed. It's 5 feet wide except at the wheel wells where it's 4' wide. A regular camper can only have a 4' wide box to slide between the wheel wheels. Since your design is modular, is there a way in the future to make a special panel so you could use a 5' wide panel everywhere except the wheel well. This would allow the sleeping bed to go crosswise in the bed, allowing more room for other stuff in the rear.

We don't have any near future plans to do as you suggested, but it has been considered. Unfortunately, there is not an easy way to make the transition. We will keep the thinking cap on and see if anything surfaces.

Would it be possible to trim a panel so that it fits over the tire well/cover? Perhaps one could create a 'tire well' to cover the hole and allow it to go over the truck bed tire well/cover?

Even if it were possible to accommodate the wheel well, the camper would not be able to slide in and out. It would have to be lifted over the wheel well. I don't see any practical way at this time of modifying the panels in production.

Of course there is nothing stopping someone with a jig saw from cutting away panels to make room for a wheel well. Then you are faced with sealing the hole from the weather.

Perhaps some hydrolic or pole lifts on the corners could lift it up and keep it in one place while the pickup truck moved out from under it? I seem truck camper use this system or something similar to it.
