Developing a new product and a new concept can be frustrating at times. Since we are sailing uncharted waters we are sure to encounter unforeseen challenges. We had hoped to have the Teal Camper on the market at the beginning of 2011. Unfortunately, things often move much more slowly than planned.

With all the positive reactions to the Teal Camper, the great input from potential users, and prototype testing, we have identified a number of areas that need improvement to make the Teal Camper a "top shelf" product and one that we can be proud of. We want to have these issues resolved before delivering production campers to our customers.

The molds are being revised to improve fit and finish, furnishing designs improved, and other parts refined. While this delays production, the final result will be a much better product.

I want to personally thank all those of you who have been loyally following the progress of the Teal Camper and patiently waiting for an opportunity to own one. We are doing our best to make sure that you won't be disappointed.

At this time we are projecting production to begin in June, 2011.

BAD NEWS - GOOD NEWS DAY

Today was a bad news - good news day. The bad news is that, in changing molding companies, we discovered why the panels were not falling within our required tolerances. The foaming fixtures that the previous company was using where poorly engineered and allowed the parts to deform during the foaming process. This was producing unacceptable parts and holding up production.

The good news is that the new company is far more experienced in specialty custom roto molded parts like ours and has an excellent solution to the problem.

Unfortunately, we now have to re-engineer and fabricate new foaming fixtures. Our new supplier estimates four to six weeks before we could be up and running. They are very confident that they will be producing parts within our specifications in short order.

We are keeping our fingers crossed, but this is actually a big breakthrough. I will keep you posted on this forum as we progress. Smiler

Any thing worth doing, is worth doing right. Problems are just hurdles to over come not walls to keep one from going on.

As reported in the article on our home page, production has been once again interrupted. This time it came out of the blue. The new molding company that we were so excited about working with and who was producing test parts that were better than anything we had seen so far, suddenly announced that our project was out.

After their meeting last week, corporate headquarters decided that they would concentrate on high end, high volume products only and leave the small volume, new project products to fend for themselves. We were told, unceremoniously, to come pick up our molds.

We are now searching for a new molder who will take our project seriously and provide us with trustworthy service. Unfortunately, this has set us back and we cannot promise delivery any time soon. As a result, I have made the store inactive for the time being and don't plan on taking any deposits until we can be assured of delivery dates. (Have product in hand!)

I hope that you will continue to follow our progress. I have no doubt that, in the end, we will have a great product.

I just became aware of the Teal Camper and said that is exactly what I have been looking for; simple and practical. Obviously not easy, but worth waiting for. Keep on looking for a manufacturer.
